Introduction

Many accountants and practitioners are now working with their clients and other professionals in the area of probate. The course is structured around the basic principle that accountants and practitioners cannot perform work in relation to "reserved legal services" but can perform all the other work such as preparing the accounts for the estate, the IHT returns etc.

This course is a great introduction and overview for individuals needed more understanding in the process of dealing with an estate and probate.

The course will provide a structure that is necessary to deal with this type of work and will help to advance their knowledge of the practical steps involved.

Delegates will have a good grasp of the basic principles needed to deal with probate work and will develop an awareness of the issues that arise when dealing with an estate

  • The application for a grant of probate
  • Dealing with the assets and liabilities
  • The IHT400 inheritance tax return
  • Estate Accounts
  • Obtaining the grant of probate
  • Making distributions and paying any tax liabilities
  • Finalising the estate
